We create a fairer future for Kenyan children

Macheo helps with compassion in the most effective way

What we do

Macheo supports vulnerable children and their families in the urban slums and rural communities around Thika, Kiambu County, and in neighbouring areas of Murang’a and Machakos counties. Every child is different. That is why we tailor our support to each child’s specific needs, helping build a strong foundation for the future.

Macheo works with a holistic, child-centered approach called the Family Needs Based Method.
Improving access to essential healthcare for vulnerable families facing high medical costs and limited services.
Teenage pregnancy remains one of the leading causes of school dropout among adolescent girls in vulnerable communities.

Our principles

Child-Centered Approach

Every child’s safety, dignity, and wellbeing come first. Children have the right to grow up in a safe, loving, and stimulating family environment.

Compassion, and Respect

We treat every child, family member, staff member, and partner with dignity, empathy, and respect—regardless of background or circumstance.

Equality and Inclusion

We ensure equal opportunities for all children and families, free from discrimination based on gender, disability, religion, ethnicity, or social status.

Community Participation and Ownership

We work with communities, caregivers, local leaders, and stakeholders to improve children’s lives. Our first choice is always to partner with (local) government, strengthening existing systems for lasting impact.
